Home to one of the oldest goldmines in Australia-it was once the largest and richest single goldmine in the world. Mine tours are available.
Above the mine is a network of fireclay caverns-the largest man-made caverns in Australia, mind for the fireclay to manufacture bricks for use on the mine site. In the ceiling of the caves is something very special-Jurassic dinosaur footprints. There are over 300 dinosaur footprints in a cavern surrounding the township.
